Good thing this great movie was made before DEI racial quotas, Did Not Earn It. If they had a choice, the left would have Von Rundstedt played by a black cokehead, Montgomery would be a gay lesbian, and a squad of trans dudes in lederhosen would conquer the bridge at Arnhem

Its a beautiful movie, I have it on DVD. This movie, The Right Stuff, Platoon, they dont make movies like this anymore.

I love this movie but Hackman's 'Polish' accent is farcical.

Good film with great cast, but like most, filled with factual inaccuracies. James Caans' rather large scene was embellished, there was no chase in a Jeep and the Americans were portrayed as good as possible for the USA film market. The British Officer Browning, played by Bogarde, was more molevolent than the Germans, in the film! Attenborough directing, was a socialist/Labour Party member and keen to keep up the 'lions led by donkeys', in his stance against the establishment. The fictitious character Colonel Stout played by Elliott Gould, seems to spend as much time pushing against the British 'military bureaucracy' as he does fighting the Germans.....got to keep the US film-goers happy, to keep the dollars rolling in.

If only the Yanks actually showed back bone and took their objectives instead of waiting on the British armour to arrive.

Montgomery had NOT a few blunders, but this was probably his most costly. He was revered but lacked any real military genius.....that was Patton. I think Eisenhower would have preferred Patton to come up with the plan, but politics.

This is a cinematic masterpiece...the music, the cast...the scenery...the story...they don't make epics like this anymore...

Arnhem, eens een mooi provincie stadje, nu het afvoerputje van Gelderland of moet ik zeggen Gelre Nordrhein Westfalen? Eens was Arnhem mijn lievelingsstad van heel Nederland met zijn mooie station en zijn gezellige binnenstad waar je werkelijk alles kon vinden wat je nodig had. Nu staat er een monstrosity van een nieuw station geheel opgetrokken uit lelijk beton waar totaal geen ziel in zit. Het is ook een heel onhandig station waar je door vee poortjes moet om bij de treinen te kunnen komen "weet je meteen hoe ze over ons denken". Over de bus terminals zullen we het maar helemaal niet hebben. 🤦 De binnenstad is ook niet meer wat die is geweest. Daar kan Arnhem niet zo heel veel aan doen, al hadden ze beter hun best moeten doen om de Bijenkorf in Arnhem te houden. Voor de rest is het voornamelijk economie en de verschrikkelijke tijd waarin wij leven met al die vervloekte moderne technologie. Voor mij is Wageningen nu de leukste stad van Nederland al begint dat helaas ook minder te worden.

Love the opening of this movie, it just shows the real historical footage and speaks to it, high level nothing explicit. Modern director have a lot to learn about making war epics.

The scale, the realism, the casting, I think this movie should be an all time great and a reference to good war movies.

The amount of big names in this movie is ridiculous and the smaller names are still household names here in the UK
